West Seattle Church

In a rundown state. Even the stained glass windows look like they have been neglected for some time.

Abandoned Church

In Red Hook, Brooklyn. The brick details and window are amazing. Hoping vandals, etc stay away from the building till it can re-purpose itself.

Cathedral at Kylemore Abbey

A short walk from the large Kylemore Abbey is the Gothic cathedral. Hopefully you get a sense of just how remarkable the place is considering the remoteness of the location and the terrain. SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESIMG_0301-001

Stained Glass Window

Stained glass window in Galway, Ireland. The multiple spirals, I believe, are considered ‘sacred geometry’ and have been used as symbols for millennia.IMG_0275-001

Shadow Steeple with Cross

This Being Sunday

I thought I would post a view of a steeple* and another rooftop that looks much like a steeple. I don’t think I would want to be the person who re-roofs the secular steeple.

*Note: Composition 101: Avoid light poles, in the frame, while shooting steeples :-).DSC_7946-001DSC_7955-001

St. Ann and Holy Trinity Church

The church is located in Brooklyn Heights. Went on a walking tour of Brooklyn Heights that was fun and informative. Homer Fink ( the tour-name of our guide ). Brooklyn Heights has been the home for such writers as Arthur Miller and Truman Capote as well as many other historical figures over the years. Very picturesque neighborhood in Brooklyn. This church has no steeple. Apparently, in the past, it was in need of repairing or replacing and it was decided to just take it down and not replace.

Spires and Wires

View from 12th Ave, First Hill, Seattle, looking back towards the downtown area.

Another Church

From the rooftop of the Pemco parking garage on Eastlake Ave. another church comes into view. The cream colored building with the curved roofline used to be the Seattle School District‘s warehouse. Years ago I worked in this building for about 3 weeks one summer as I was going through a rather extended time between jobs. I worked swing shift with one other employee, who I rarely saw until the end of the shift,  around 11:30pm each night.
