Before heading to Ireland we stayed in Edinburgh for three days to see the Tattoo as well as wander around the old city. We stayed right on the Royal Mile, which is one of the oldest, cobblestoned streets in Edinburgh. The Writers Museum was really cool. The building itself was amazing to walk through.

My granddaughter, Madeleine, helping me figure out how to take a panoramic shot on my phone. I understand cameras, but not so much the ones embedded in iPhones.

Live musicians and actors performed all day on the Royal Mile, as it was Fringe Festival time in Edinburgh. This musician is Luke Gajdus. You can catch him on Instagram and YouTube. Our Granddaughter was entranced listening. We stayed till he stopped for the day, just before dusk.

St. Andrews Church.

Along the Royal Mile there are, too many to count, what are called “Closes”, these little walkways between old buildings. Some open up to a courtyard behind the buildings and others are just a pass through to the adjacent street. All have interesting, sometimes historical names.

I thought I would post a view of a steeple* and another rooftop that looks much like a steeple. I don’t think I would want to be the person who re-roofs the secular steeple.

St. Ann and Holy Trinity Church

The church is located in Brooklyn Heights. Went on a walking tour of Brooklyn Heights that was fun and informative. Homer Fink ( the tour-name of our guide ). Brooklyn Heights has been the home for such writers as Arthur Miller and Truman Capote as well as many other historical figures over the years. Very picturesque neighborhood in Brooklyn. This church has no steeple. Apparently, in the past, it was in need of repairing or replacing and it was decided to just take it down and not replace.
