Next to the Duwamish River
Even next to the Duwamish River, which is a Super Fund Site, something pretty can come alive and blossom. The rose-bush this rose is on is about 20 feet from the banks of the Duwamish River, which is not as nasty looking as the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, but may come a close second.

Ballerina
This flower reminds me of the song, ‘Tiny Dancer’.
Odd Sunday Pairing

A view of Mt. Rainier ( from our deck )under a white, billowy cloud ( which is barely visible) and a rather road-weary Vespa. I guess my fascination with Vespas is alive and well.
Milestone: 1500th Posting on Bluestar2012!
This is my 1,500th posting on this blog. In Feb. 2008 I had no idea where I was going with this blog or if I had the discipline to keep it going for this length of time. So, befitting this moment I thought I would post a ‘self-portrait’ of myself ( in shadow form to maintain some sense of anonymity ) as well as a rainbow, which is symbolic of hope, possibility and perhaps a touch of magic.
Thanks to all of you who have supported this blog by checking in from time to time to see what is going on here. I had less than modest goals when I started posting and I’m really gratified by the response over these 1,500 postings. I’ve purposely let the images I post speak for themselves, with little or no narrative from me. Photography is a personal experience between the image and viewer. I see no point in interjecting my ‘experience’ between you and the image.
Dream large.
Update:
I have been posting in a hit and miss manner lately. The reason for this is that I have been out of town for nearly two weeks and am now at home spending time editing the over 400 images I took when I was away. My apologies for posting in an erratic fashion. I will get back on track soon.
Mt. St. Helens
Driving south on I-5 I took this aiming the camera at what I thought was Mt. St. Helens. If you ‘click to enlarge’ the image you can make out St. Helens in the center background.
