A bookstore in an alley and street musicians from 1970, San Francisco. This may be the last in this series unless I can dig up some 45 year old prints that could be hidden about our home or garage.
Derelict houses and outbuildings along the Green River. I’m not sure how or why the pallet got placed at the top of the dead tree below, but 25 feet up, there it is?
San Francisco, July 1970. The music venue Keystone Korner. Who remembers Boz Scaggs? How about Bennie Cecil and the Snakes? I think we may have to turn on the ‘Way Back Machine’.
Muzak vehicle spotted in the Financial District of San Francisco, 1970. How many of you were around when ‘Muzak’ was the company that piped in ‘music’ to offices, elevators and all?
Vanessi’s was located in North Beach, at Broadway and Kearny. The restaurant closed in 1997. The gas station, also located in North Beach, was a little bit different than the usual corporate-designed station, even in the 1970’s-when these photos were taken.
*Both photos scanned from 35mm print film, over 40 years old.
Continuing with the scanned prints from 1971: I stayed one night in the Embarcadero YMCA. On the left side of the image you can see the double-decked Embarcadero. that no longer exists. My room seemed just feet from the traffic, making for a very memorable night, with little sleep.
Walking around Georgetown, Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, recently. The day was sunny and clear so I thought it would be a good day for shadows and reflections.
Try as I might, I can’t think of a witty title for this photo. Probably just as well. I wonder if the woman on her cell, in the background, is calling in an upright bass on the run?
