Another view of the Freedom Tower, under construction. The Brooklyn Bridge was also getting some attention. One of those clear Fall mornings in October that New York seems to b e known for.

B&W

Some B&W images from DUMBO.
East Side, Northward
This is from the Roosevelt Island Tram as it nears the Manhattan Island station. I don’t recall the exact ave. (E. 60th St.), but this view is looking northward on the East Side. I carry a small digital voice recorder with me, but I tend to use it to remind myself of general geographical areas that I have shot in during the course of a day. I probably should consider using it for the details as well.
This Being Sunday
I thought I would post a view of a steeple* and another rooftop that looks much like a steeple. I don’t think I would want to be the person who re-roofs the secular steeple.
*Note: Composition 101: Avoid light poles, in the frame, while shooting steeples :-).

Sundays Brownstones

Again, indulging my love of this architectural style. Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Still Looking Up

Glass & Brick.
Rooftop Decorating
Different uses of NYC rooftops. Seemed like a mild version of privacy invasion, taking these photos.

United Nations
The United Nations building as seen from Roosevelt Island. Currently, there is a large construction project going on that is creating a traffic nightmare on the front side of the building.
Manhattan from Roosevelt Island

Just a couple of glimpses of Midtown Manhattan from the west side of Roosevelt Island.
Vespa Spotted
In my walks around the five boroughs of NYC I always stop when I see a Vespa. I shoot them in all colors, ages and degrees of wear/damage. Brownstones and Vespa’s seem to go together. Something about the timelessness of the design, perhaps?

Smallpox Hospital

What remains of the Renwick Smallpox Hospital on Roosevelt Island. The building is on the National Register and is undergoing a stabilization project which should allow the public to walk through when completed. Has been abandoned since 1971.
Fire Escapes Around Park Slope
A look at a few fire escapes spotted around Park Slope, Brooklyn.

More Positive
Perhaps a more positive look at the Gowanus Canal neighborhood. Although I enjoy the seamier side of things ( as in urban decay ) I thought I should post this image of a business building that is pretty cool looking, complete with the old pick up truck.
Carroll Gardens
Set of brownstones from Carroll Gardens.
Study in Blue
Shot in midtown Manhattan. Not just an experiment in mood, but also what caught my eye was the streaks or rays of discoloration seen diagonally through the tallest building.
