The company New Yorkers ( and others ) love to hate. This building was built in the early 20th century by Sears, Roebuck & Co. I worked in this building for 17 years ( 1970-1988).

Photos were taken from the Sunrise side of Mt. Rainier. The lodge is at @ 6400′ elevation. Trails that lead up to the glaciers, alpine lakes and other ridges start from this lodge. This day we took a short trail called Huckleberry, steep, but short. The outcropping of rock is fascinating. There are spots along the trail, viewpoints I guess, where the drop-off is a direct fall for hundreds of feet. I have a thing about heights so I stay back from the edge at those points along the trail.

Nothing like a spot of graffiti to spark the midweek doldrums.

“Peace, have a good day”. I keep thinking that one day I will run across a bit of wisdom displayed in someone’s well thought out graffiti or street art. Not something as vague as: ” the end is near’. But, rather, just a tidbit of something that shows me some insight and mental prowess; something I can take with me to ponder over. So far,
no such luck.
I’ll be looking, though. I don’t understand the “3.7” in the first image. I would understand: 3.14, pi as a universally understood mathematical statement, but……3.7?
On a recent, hazy day in Tacoma, the fowl were out and about.

The rollerblader reminded me of a song by Dire Straits, with a title something like “Skateaway”. Seeing all of those bucket lifts in one place reminded me of the herding instinct. I guess it makes good advertising sense to leave them in a position that can be seen from a distance.

Classic Rolls Royce spotted along the Ruston Trail near Commencement Bay, Tacoma, Wa. This Rolls was parked in a lot belonging to a law firm. “Follow the money”, as the saying goes. Reminds me of the TV show ‘Burke’s Law‘ (1963-1965), a show about a LA Homicide detective who rode around in a Silver Cloud, I believe. I guess I have dated myself :-).
