Details
A short while back I posted some views of a home in NE Portland that I really liked. I revisited the home this past week to capture some of the details of the house that draws me in. From leaded windows to dental molding I think it is an interesting structure that someone put some extra thought and time into.

Located on a corner lot this house is one of my favorites. Next time I will get closer to show some of the details.
Urban Bamboo
Planted on a parking strip in NE Portland. Two winters ago, during a snowstorm, this group of bamboo, loaded with ice and snow, were laying horizontal on the street. After the snow and ice melted they bounced back up as though nothing had happened.
Winter Street
A few weeks ago I posted photos of this street when the trees were full of foliage. Looks a bit barren now that Winter has come.
Thomas J. Autzen House
The Thomas J. Autzen house is 10,000 sq. ft and takes up a triangular shaped block all by itself. It is arguably the most prestigious home in Portland and is currently for sale for $2.35M. The current owners have invested $.5M into renovations.

Historic Home
There are about a half a dozen historic homes on Alameda St. in NE Portland. This is the Edward and Bertha Keller Home, an English Cottage Revival built in 1924.
Church
NE Portland has many, small neighborhood churches. The names of some of them are too long to remember. This neighborhood still has a few, what I would call, Mom & Pop stores. This sort of thing has long since vanished from most Seattle residential neighborhoods. It is like being transported back to the 1950’s, to see small churches in this setting.
Friday Whimsy
In the Pacific Northwest we rely on artificial devices to remind us of what the sun may look like. This tree has such a lumpy trunk from pruning it looks like it has gone through a series of plastic surgeries.
Bark Peeling
I found this bark fascinating. Of course I couldn’t resist helping Mother Nature along by peeling off some of the bark myself.
