Just a quick update/reminder: My current photo display will continue through June 14th at Capitol Hill Hair, 514 East 19th St. If you live in or near Seattle it might be worth the energy to check it out. One image sold early on and three more are ‘spoken for’ as of today. Apparently the patrons of the salon are taking the time to walk around and both look and comment on the images. Perhaps most importantly the employees ( whom have to work around the images all day ) have stated they enjoy looking at them.
Wednesday Update: Message from the salon on Tuesday passing along the good news that another print on display has been purchased.
From modest to ornate, headstones of all ages and types can be found at Green-Wood. Early Dutch settlers to Wall Street Barons. The pond is really a nice feature. I’ve visited the cemetery three times and have probably only covered 30% of the site.
At the top of a hill in the cemetery there are rows of these Skylights for the crypts below. I’m not sure the dead are appreciating the extra light they are receiving, but……as with all burial places, they are probably more for the living than the deceased. I just found these rows of skylights fascinating and even peered down into the one with the broken glass. Design-wise I am not sure what period these skylights were placed there. Guessing early 20th Century…. but????? Green-Wood should be on everyone’s Bucket List.
A cruise on one of these will never be on my Bucket List*. *photos were taken from inside the Ikea Taxi, through a very dirty, scratched plexiglas window.
I’ve been searching for the ‘unknown’ for quite some time. I found it last Fall on a bench in Brooklyn. Precisely, a bench on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.
Two items to pass along to those following this blog:
On May 1st I will be having my next photo show at Capital Hill Hair. The display will run for 6 weeks. The business doesn’t have a website, but is located on 19th and Republican(522 19th Ave E) on Capital Hill, Seattle.
#2: Today I started an account on a photo sharing site called 500pix.com. I have a few photos uploaded and plan to do more soon. I believe you can purchase prints from the site at this link:
Modernity, with people. I don’t recall the purpose of this building, but I’m not sure I care for the look. Maybe it does serve a function, other than looking like it is going to tip over?
In a departure from the photoblog content I have been posting for the past three years I thought I would take a moment to present an idea with the support of a song:
I think, if all 7 billion of us on this planet could thing of ourselves as ‘passengers’ on planet Earth, we and the planet might create a better future.
I guess this is some type of public scribbling? I don’t understand the need to vandalize occupied businesses, buildings and public surfaces in general? I might be missing something.
