Location: Alki Beach Park, Seattle, WA. While my grandson, Adam, was throwing popcorn in the air it seemed like a good opportunity to take a few photos. Shot Wednesday morning, between storms. Ferry in the far background plying the waters of Puget Sound.

Sunday Cruise

Down the Duwamish River heading out to Puget Sound.
South Park Bridge
The two crews rowing were the first ones to pass under the new South Park Bridge. The last photo is looking south where the old Sheet Metal Shop of Plant II, Boeing, was located. During the bridge construction Boeing demolished the long vacated building (whose footprint ran right up the the waters edge, with no set back or buffer zone) and is now cleaning and refurbishing this section of shoreline of the Duwamish River. Pretty amazing transition. The Sheet Metal Shop moved to the city of Auburn, WA. in the mid-80’s-known as the 17-45 building. I actually worked in the 17-45 building for a year, 1999, before being moved to the Everett Plant 67 miles north, where I spent the last two years of my working career with the company. Seems like a lifetime ago.

RC Regatta: Pt. 1
South Lake Washington on a Saturday morning recently. These sailboats are controlled remotely. The operator of the sailboats controls the rudder and mast with the large RC unit they carry around, guiding their scale model sailboats around a course, just as the full sized versions do. It really takes many of the sailing skills to navigate these boats as it does a full sized version.

Along the Duwamish River
The new North Span of the 14th St. Bridge (South Park) is in place, vertically. The new bridge is coming along. Other images of working vessels of one type or another. Barges are loaded with just about anything you can imagine, trucks, cars, boats containers, etc and take the cargo north to Juneau, AK.

Duwamish River
Small section of the Duwamish River where nature seems to coexist with marine commerce.
Alki Lighthouse Pt. 2
A couple of views from the lighthouse. A kayaker and Queen Anne Hill in the distance.

Sunset on the Hudson River
Taken adjacent to the Circle Line Pier on Manhattan, an attempt at catching the sun go down.

The winner of this race was boat#180, the blue sailboat, with #131 coming in a close second. In the second image, in the background, you can see the north side of the Boeing Renton Plant, where all of the 737 models are assembled, including the one parked outside the large door.
