Moon Snails
Was a minus tide yesterday. We spend some time on the beach hunting marine life of all sorts, crabs, snails, sea cucumbers. Here is a few views of the some of the moon snails we encountered. Some were so large they had to be held with two hands as they emerged from their shell. Note the slimey substance wrapping around the fingers above.
Coney Island- Off Season
Coney Island, after the summer passes, can be a very cold and lonely place. My kind of place.

Just beneath the surface of the water are these colorful kelp. ( I hope my spelling is better with this post?). Must be time for another break.

Large clusters of mussels are exposed at low tide on Elliott Bay.
Entropy
This first image looks a little like a fish. I thought I needed to take a few days off from the Gowanus Canal photos. Even I have limits on how much urban decay I can tolerate :-). I found this section of beach at Chambers Bay really fun to explore.

The theme for today must have something to do with beaches and decaying things. This leaf seemed odd to me as it looked so dead on the edges, yet so vibrantly green ( and alive-looking ) towards the center.
