I entered three photographs in three different categories at the Evergreen State Fair. Today we went up to see how the three pieces faired. All three took second place in their respective categories. Close, but not quite the best. I thought all three were worthy or in the running. This was my first year at this judging event. I’m sorry the two images here are full of glare, etc. No matter where I stood to take a photo I could not avoid that nasty glare. Anyway, when I get the judging sheet I should have a better understanding of what they were looking for, or???????????

Midweek Graffiti Posting
Nothing like a spot of graffiti to spark the midweek doldrums.

“Peace, have a good day”. I keep thinking that one day I will run across a bit of wisdom displayed in someone’s well thought out graffiti or street art. Not something as vague as: ” the end is near’. But, rather, just a tidbit of something that shows me some insight and mental prowess; something I can take with me to ponder over. So far,
no such luck.
I’ll be looking, though. I don’t understand the “3.7” in the first image. I would understand: 3.14, pi as a universally understood mathematical statement, but……3.7?
Guardian of the Planet
For the past three years I have tried to let the images I post speak for themselves. I have tried not to interject too much of myself or personal thoughts. So, at the risk of sounding at bit ‘out there’, I wanted to do a post about a tattoo I got recently. The dolphin tattoo does tie in with the title of this blog. Background info:The tattoo is located on my right forearm. This is the only tattoo I have at this time at the age of 60.
Although I have no firsthand experience with dolphins I have done a little research and have talked with others who have had personal experiences. I believe a couple of things about dolphins: 1. they are highly evolved, intelligent and have healing powers; 2. dolphins are the guardians of the planet- that is to say that as goes the dolphin so goes the earth. I have no proof to back up either of these thoughts or assertions–I just believe. Having the image of the dolphin as a constant companion is a reminder for me of many things: to stay positive, even in the darkest of times; to use my energy for the highest of purposes, to tread as lightly on the earth as I can, being as much as a caretaker as I can and lastly to not take myself too seriously, to be as playful as I can as I walk through the rest of this life.
SAAM- Art Deco
The entryway of the SAAM- Seattle Asian Art Museum-has a strong art deco flavor. This facility is part of SAM- Seattle Art Museum-, but located in Volunteer Park. I think it’s collection is permanent with few changes over the years. I just loved the art deco touch.
