Lincoln Park

Some of the squirrels in the park are very people-friendly. If there is the slimmest chance of soliciting food from you, they will allow you to get  really close. The oddest squirrel experience: A squirrel near Sabin School in Portland ran down the side of a maple tree and up to my grandson, who was walking next to me, and jumped on his leg, then ran off in haste. I have no idea what that squirrel was thinking, but it was really odd, this random squirrel attack on a toddler!DSC_2987-001 DSC_2988-001 DSC_2990-001

Last Rose

Two images of the last rose from our rose bush this season. Since I posted these two images on Facebook I thought I should go ahead and post them on the blog as well. I have always had trouble with red roses, but I think this time I finally got something worth saving.DSC_3045-001 DSC_3048-001

Duwamish Reflection

There has been a layer of fog over Seattle for days. I thought I should post something to  remind me of what blue sky looks like. The Duwamish River at high tide is nearly glassy in appearance. The building reflected is a Boeing property, one of few remaining in this section of Seattle known in Boeing-speak as Plant II. Although I am retired from Boeing I have no idea just what takes place in this building. In my day there were some secure sites within Plant II, but I think most of that was in relation to work Boeing did on the stealth aircraft in the 1990’s.DSC_2895-001

Leaves and Lichen

Another set of images from Lincoln Park. So many of the trees are now turning colors it has kept me busy this Fall. This is the time of year I am usually in Brooklyn/NY visiting with our son and daughter in law, wandering around the Five Boroughs of NYC with my camera in hand. DSC_2871-001 DSC_2874-001 DSC_2876-001

Fading Vespa Sign: Update*

Although nearly faded away, this is a sign on the old Vespa Club in Georgetown. The painting is supposed to show a woman ( circa 1960′s) sitting on a yellow Vespa scooter.

*Update: Sadly this painted ad on the side of this old building is now gone forever. The building now has new cedar siding ( painted yellow ) and a new roof. The above, Woman on a Vespa, has ridden off to the trash heap of history, sadly :-(.

Fall while Driving

Probably something I should not have done, camera in hand randomly ( and mostly blindly) shooting, while I was driving last week. I did my best to edit out parts of the car, but as you can see, there is only so much cropping that can be done and still have some sort of subject left.DSC_2901-001 DSC_2902-001 DSC_2904-001 DSC_2905-001

Crossings

First two bridges span the Cedar River ( Renton) and the third is over the Green River (Kent). Bridges and train trestles seem to fascinate me. I should dig through my archives and do a monster bridge posting! :-). Lots of rust and creosote!DSC_2676-001DSC_2724-001 DSC_2776-001

Along the Duwamish River

The new North Span of the 14th St. Bridge (South Park) is in place, vertically. The new bridge is coming along. Other images of working vessels of one type or another. Barges are loaded with just about anything you can imagine, trucks, cars, boats containers, etc and take the cargo north to Juneau, AK
