Sale-Good News!

The photo on the right was sold today.

Update Sat. 27th April: Went to the salon this morning and heard lots of positive feedback on my show. Apparently customers are actually spending time looking at each image and reacting positively. Owner stated it has been the best photo show they have had in the shop in over a year. Nice to hear positive feedback, etc.

Green-Wood Cemetery: Part 3

From modest to ornate, headstones of all ages and types can be found at Green-Wood. Early Dutch settlers to Wall Street Barons. The pond is really a nice feature. I’ve visited the cemetery three times and have probably only covered 30% of the site.

Green-Wood Cemetery: Skylights for the Dead

DSC_9351-001 DSC_9353-001 DSC_9409-001 DSC_9412-001 DSC_9427-001At the top of a hill in the cemetery there are rows of these Skylights for the crypts below. I’m not sure the dead are appreciating the extra light they are receiving, but……as with all burial places, they are probably more for the living than the deceased. I just found these rows of skylights fascinating and even peered down into the one with the broken glass. Design-wise I am not sure what period these skylights were placed there. Guessing early 20th Century…. but????? Green-Wood should be on everyone’s Bucket List.

Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn

DSC_9280-001 DSC_9284-001 DSC_9310-001 DSC_9316-001If a cemetery can be a destination place to visit, then Green-Wood should be on everyone’s list. Many crypts are built into hillsides, the architecture of the entranceway is Gothic and very detailed; it seems to change colors with the changing light of day. From a distance it almost has a Disneyland-esque sensibility. Many of the wealthiest of New York are buried here as well as historical figures.

Here are some views of the salon after some of my images were hung this morning. The location of the salon is 514 East Republican, on Capitol Hill. The listed address online, etc is incorrect. 514 is the correct street number. And Camellia’s, too

Some of the camellia’s are starting to bloom along with tulips and dogwoods. These photos were taken at the end of a day. Sometimes the colors seem deeper at dusk as opposed to dawn, in my humble opinion.DSC_0319-001 DSC_0320-001 DSC_0321-001
