Google Earth

Roaming around the globe, a Google Earth photo car spotted on 5th Ave. in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Two Views: Kentile Floors Sign
Two views of the Kentile Floors sign in Gowanus. The land the sign and factory sits on is part of the Superfund Site. Apparently the soil is contaminated with asbestos.

I’ll be Your Waiter this Afternoon
Don’t mind my missing thumb…
A Sunny Morning in the Lower East Side

Modernity, with people. I don’t recall the purpose of this building, but I’m not sure I care for the look. Maybe it does serve a function, other than looking like it is going to tip over?
Sculptures For Sale
Protected by a fence, a safe haven for these sculptures in the LES.

LES Street Art

As opposed to the previously posted street vandalism on the Lower East Side here was a couple of examples of something akin to Street Art.
Fire Escapes
Fire escapes and a water tower spotted while walking around the LES.

Passenger
In a departure from the photoblog content I have been posting for the past three years I thought I would take a moment to present an idea with the support of a song:
I think, if all 7 billion of us on this planet could thing of ourselves as ‘passengers’ on planet Earth, we and the planet might create a better future.
Things that Fade Away: The Lower East Side

A wall that fades into the distance and a fading ad slowly retreating into history.
Fridays Odds and Ends

From the Lower East side: variety of window treatments (or perhaps, mis-treatments?) on an older building, water tank and busy intersection on Delancey Street.
Old and New
The old and new architecture together in the Lower East Side.
How Jay-Z Got His Name

Disclaimer: I know nothing about rap or hip hop music, therefore, I am ably qualified to propose the following theory: the popular ( and very rich) rapper/hip-hopster Jay-Z ( formerly known as Shawn Carter) chose his nom de rapper from the NYC subway station of the same-well, similar-name. I submit, in evidence, the two photos in this posting as well as this link.
Women and Men
Public restroom from a bygone era in the Lower East Side.

Lower East Side
Spent some time walking around the LES gazing at the architectural elements that stand out. I thought the admission price for the Tenement Museum was outside of my budget so this is as close as I got.

Leaving Dumbo
My exit from Dumbo, as witnessed by these two inanimate images.
L&H Stern Company in the background. A fading ad through the prism of an archway.
