About a year ago* this ship was pushed into this moorage location adjacent to a metal scrapyard on the Duwamish River in South Park ( South Seattle). Since that time the scrapyard has ceased being a viable business and the property has been cleared, few reminders of the scrap business. What will become of this rusty, abandoned ship is a mystery at this point in time. There is an ongoing effort to clean up the river that has been going on since the EPA declared the area a SuperFund site back in the 1970’s, the first such declaration by the EPA.
*I just happened to be at this location to watch the ship being pushed by two small tugs into this spot. I have been shooting this location regularly for the past few years, documenting the major changes that are ongoing.

I will probably be stopping by myself this Saturday around 11:00AM to straighten frames and make sure everything I put on the walls is still up on the walls–gravity has a way of pulling things down. My last post from home as we leave early Sat. for Ireland. I will make every effort to post while traveling. I’ve never considered this a travel blog, per se, but it might become one for a short time. On another informational note: After I return from Ireland I will need to have a conversation with the salon where my next show is due to start in September. A new wrinkle in my schedule has come up this past week and I will be out of town for a few days that first week of September. I hope to be able to get everything in place by no later than September 5th. I am working with both the Labor Day holiday as well as the artist who has the August slot. For the Seattle followers of this blog I will get something definitive by the end of Aug.
This is probably my last post from Portland this week. Saturday morning we leave for Ireland for ten days. Hopefully will post while traveling, Wi-Fi dependent.
