Red Hook in B&W

Was in the process of moving some image files off of the MacBook and into storage on a portable hard drive and noticed these two images so I reworked them a little and, voila! Location is: Red Hook, Brooklyn, one of my favorite places to walk around and shoot in NYC. Two weeks prior to Hurricane Sandy this is what I saw.The black, cast-iron shutters you see are really amazing and functional. DSC_9074-001 - Version 2

No Clever Title

Try as I might, I can’t think of a witty title for this photo. Probably just as well. I wonder if the woman on her cell, in the background, is calling in an upright bass on the run?DSC_8407 - Version 2

Ikea Water Taxi

The Ikea Water Taxi runs from the pier adjacent to the Ikea store in Red Hook to the old Fulton Fish Market Pier on the east side of Manhattan ( Pier 11 ). The views from the taxi are incredible as you cross the East River.DSC_8507-001 DSC_8514-001 DSC_8539-001

Flowers from Red Hook

Thought I would end the year with a couple of images from Van Brunt St. in Red Hook ( Brooklyn).  This area was hard hit by Sandy. These images were taken a few blocks from the waterfront so maybe they survived. Taken 10 days prior to super storm Sandy.DSC_8405-001
