DSC_0010a The pampas grass always seems so delicate yet hardy. This plant is located on Beach Drive, with a southern exposure. In Seattle that means it gets the brunt of the weather systems that push up Puget Sound.

From my Garden Squash squash

A look at the squash I grew this past summer. The largest squash weighed in at 8 lbs. We gave a few away to family, saved a few for us and the balance I took to the local food bank. Next year I won’t plant as many squash as I did this year. Quite a bounty and fun to watch grow.

Headstone where my grandparents are buried in Santa Maria, Ca. Resting place of most of my dad’s remains, in a funeral urn, placed just in front of this headstone. The flower garden is at Mission Soledad. At this spot we spread the last of the ashes of my dad. Mission Soledad is near Salinas, where he spent much of his youth.

The last garden This small flower garden is the last spot where we dispersed some of my dad’s ashes. Aside from the gravesite where the bulk of his remains were buried in what is called a funeral urn ( some type of plastic container ) we spread the rest of his ashes in five different locations along the California coast as well as three inland sites. This garden is in the Mission Soledad outside of Salinas, Ca. We also placed some of his ashes in a lettuce field. He spent some time ( Jr. High/High School) in the Salinas area. His dad was a state inspector, mostly working the packing houses of Salinas. The lettuce fields in Salinas seem to go on forever, into the horizon. Just amazingly large.

Bean from our garden. What we usually do with the bush beans is pass them along to our daughter to pickle and then take the jars of pickled beans and evenly divide them. She has a knack for turning out delicious pickled beans.
