The new North Span of the 14th St. Bridge (South Park) is in place, vertically. The new bridge is coming along. Other images of working vessels of one type or another. Barges are loaded with just about anything you can imagine, trucks, cars, boats containers, etc and take the cargo north to Juneau, AK.
Another view of the Freedom Tower, under construction. The Brooklyn Bridge was also getting some attention. One of those clear Fall mornings in October that New York seems to b e known for.
A seagull was one of the few signs of life I encountered along the promenade this particular morning. A view of the underside of the Ed Koch Bridge, looking west towards Manhattan.
Roosevelt Island Tram traveling over the East River. Looking west towards Manhattan and the Ed KochQueensborough Bridge. In the top photo you can barely see the red tram station at 59th st. Station. Bottom: tram pulling into the station on Roosevelt Island. Normally I am phobic regarding heights, but I rode the tram from Roosevelt Island back to Manhattan and had not issues. Will be posting some of the fun tram photos in the near future.
A couple of more sights along the Interurban Trail. I think the clearance underneath the trestle is 8 feet, 6in. Bigfoot might have to duck to pass under.
Of course, what would any urban trail be without graffiti and generally poorly placed street art? The pilings in the second photo are from days gone by when there was a lot of river traffic and commerce.
The view of the pedestrian bridge is from inside an elevator that had green tinted glass. The second image caught my attention as the cloud formation seemed ominous.
Section of the Cedar River in Renton, Wa. The Cedar River Watershed supplies a large portion of Seattle’s water. An old pedestrian bridge, below, is showing its age. In this part of the country anything left outside will inevitably have something green growing on it shortly.
I have been following the progress of the new 14th St. Bridge from the start of the demo. Thought I would post something fairly recent to mark the progress. I have a few images from this past week, but they are still on the chip in the camera.
