The large crane at the site of the South Park Bridge. There are three cranes at the site at this time. This large one sits on a very large barge. Even with a wide angle lens I couldn’t get all of the barge in one shot. The yellow crane up on the old bridge in the background will give you a sense of scale.
The last piece of steel is set in place in the first cofferdam for the new South Park Bridge. I guess the next step is to pump out the water from behind the steel.
The Shoremont Apartments on Beach Drive fell into a state of disrepair/neglect. They are now in the process of gutting the inside and hopefully leaving the nice, brick exterior.
Duwamish River at 14th St. Bridge. These pilings, I believe, were put in place to guide the large ships through the narrow passage of the drawbridge. Right now construction of the new bridge is progressing. They are building the cofferdams for the new bridge using the large crane seen in a previous post.
Paddling along the Duwamish River in the morning. The banks of the river are lined with algae-c0vered boulders, cement blocks and general riprap. Note: At the risk of patting myself on the back, I really did like the tone of the color of the water in the duck photo posted here.
