Lighthouse
Partial view of the North Head Lighthouse near Long Beach, Wa. Shot with film on a Minolta X700 camera.
Between Prescott and Alberta
One of my favorite houses in Portland. Located between Prescott and Alberta St. at 19th ( I think ). The detail on the house from the dental molding to all of the cornice and trim work is just wonderful. Even the chimney has some interesting detail to catch your attention. Last week I walked by the house and noticed that the owner had repainted with a different color scheme, which I am not sure I like as well as this one. I have been looking at this house for over 5 years and still have not mustered the courage to knock on the door and ask if I could look inside.
Brooklyn Rooftop
Taken from the rooftop of a Park Slope four story building looking west towards Manhattan ( which is totally not visible so I don’t know why I referred to it ).
Rusty Building
Rusty, deserted building in Portland, Or. This image was taken from quite a distance with a 70-200mm lens, which is why the quality is not what I would have liked. Having said that, I still thought the colors of the building, as it is in this state of decay, were interesting.
Lighthouse Sign
Sign on the side of the North Head Lighthouse in Long Beach, Washington. The lighthouse is located just north of the mouth of the Columbia River.
South Park Past
Part of the history of South Park. It might be time to demo what is left of this house and move forward. There is a view of the Duwamish River from this lot, but most of the land on this side of the street are commercial. Very odd neighborhood. I lived here with my family prior to starting school. I must have been @ 4 years old when we lived in South Park. I remember, in the mid-1950’s, walking to the banks of the river with a stick with a piece of string attached on the end thinking I would go fishing. Somewhere there is even a photo of myself and my long deceased cousin Bob standing on a log on the bank of the river with our homemade fishing poles. It seems unmanageable today to imagine a parent allowing a 4 year old to walk a couple of blocks to play in/near a very polluted river. Those were very different times.
Rockefeller Center
Not really an iconic view of this most famous tourist spot. It has been nearly four years since I took this photo and I always cringe a little every time I look at and think about the woman staring back at me; I feel like I got busted or something. Of all of the people moving about this space, she was the only one ( and the closest to me ) who spotted me and what I was doing. I should have asked her if she minded being in the photo, but….In profile, she looks much like someone I worked with many years ago. So, on a couple of levels this image has some weird mojo attached to it. I would really like to think she is a spy posing as a tourist, but that could be just my imagination working overtime.

A view from Gowanus Canal area of Brooklyn looking north towards a dense, urban area.
