Cooling off on a hot day in Portland.

Bush Bean
Bean from our garden. What we usually do with the bush beans is pass them along to our daughter to pickle and then take the jars of pickled beans and evenly divide them. She has a knack for turning out delicious pickled beans.
Give Peas a Chance
Snap pea from our garden.
Smoketree Leaf
Spotted in Portland. I think there are two varieties of Smoketrees in the US. Interesting tree. I actually walked past this small tree, stopped and turned around to walk back and take a look. It was like it took my mind a few seconds to register what I saw.
Flower Globe
I really don’t know the name of this plant. Was captured in the Sabin area of Portland from someone’s yard I walked past.
Clematis
One more look at Carol’s clematis.
A Closer Look
Macro view of one of Carol’s clematis.
Carol’s Flowers
My daughter’s neighbor, Carol, has a really pretty clematis vine that I wish I could grow. She explained her pruning technique to me last week, but I have had no luck with this type of clematis to date. They all die after I prune.

Madeleine
Before I post some of the images I took in Portland last week I thought I would share this one of our granddaughter. She is a great subject to shoot.
Vendors: Pride 2009 Seattle
Vendor tents.
Pride 2009
Couple of images from last weeks Pride 2009 event in Seattle’s Capital Hill area.
Jacob Cline #2
Tomorrow I plan to post some of the images I shot while in Portland and elsewhere last week. For now, here is another look at the Jacob Cline.
Monarda ‘Jacob Cline’
Interesting flower just blooming in one of our planter boxes. When I bought the seeds I didn’t notice how tall it would get when mature. Seems like it is at least three feet high right now.
