Bamboo and Palm trees in the NW. With all of the rain and cold weather we have 9 months a year it surprises me plants like this survive and thrive. A couple of years ago during an ice storm these bamboo plants were literally laying in the street covered with snow and ice. After the ice melted they sprung back to their original shape.
The palms surprise me since I don’t have any association of them with colder places. But the bamboo forests high in the mountains of China, near Tibet – the home range for Pandas – that gets very cold. I can imagine bamboo getting wiped out and coming back.
