What is left of the Green Lake Aqua Theatre. Most of the original structure has been demolished. It was a very unique piece of architecture and an interesting venue for a range of events, including rock concerts.
I remember being at this Led Zeppelin concert in May of 1969. The outdoor acoustics made for an amazing place to hear Jimmy Page’s guitar playing.
This Grateful Dead concert, Aug. 20th, 1969, was the very last concert at this venue. I was there listening till around 2AM when the electricity was shut off. The Dead arrived over an hour late (very commonplace for them). It was an odd night. Due to the city buses stopping service before 2AM I didn’t arrive home till hours later.

Shoreline

Even though it was an overcast day I did find a few things to shoot at Green Lake.
Rowing
Crew rowing on this cold, grey day. During the summer Green Lake hosts many regional rowing tournaments (?). On this day just this solitary crew was out on the lake practicing.

On a cold, grey day I walked around Green Lake hoping the rain would hold off for an hour. I did manage to find some nice things to shoot, even though it was ‘Junuary’ here in Seattle.
Still Bloooming
While the roses are still blooming I guess I will continue shooting and posting them. I like the salmon color of the top flower. To all fathers, Happy Father’s Day!

Carkeek Park Pond and Nature Trail
Located on Puget Sound, Carkeek Park has some interesting trails and wetlands to observe nature. Over the next few days I will be posting some of the things I encountered while in the park with the students of Whitman Middle School.
