Seems like the builder may have ordered too many cornices so they were just attached in a spot few would see. From a design standpoint it looks a bit odd.

Garden spaces between these buildings seems a bit odd as they probably only get an hour of sunlight each day. Then again, this is Seattle where our sun exposure is measured in hours per year rather than days. I guess you plant shade plants that like their privacy.

Bush and Cheney coming to town?

Then there is this bike, in a very odd position. Maybe it was the only way it could be locked to the rail?

The last oddity of my Capital Hill experience today was this sign behind the fence. The sign seems a bit unnecessary.

Some more images from the conservatory. I enjoy the colors, textures and symmetry of the palms and cactus. The brilliance of the colors looks almost unreal.
Blues from a conservatory. The missing track from Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue?

Sharp tip on a cactus leaf. With all of the bright and colorful plants I saw I was drawn to the color of this cactus. More colorful plants to follow!

Visited the Volunteer Park Conservatory, in Seattle, today. Was a cool, grey day so shooting indoors made sense. Some of the flowers are just starting to bloom. It seemed odd to see this beautiful flower, in bloom, behind bars. I understand the public can’t be trusted, but seems a shame. I’m sure I will be posting more images from my time in the conservatory.

I’m not sure what this spider had in mind building some sort of web between these tree buds. Maybe this was a practice session for the spider?

Rebar on beach, exposed to the elements.

Was nice to find evidence of Spring.
Sign of Spring
I had to look long and hard to find, in Seattle, some signs of Spring. This image was from a viewpoint in West Seattle, overlooking Elliott Bay.
