The viaduct is a major transportation vein for North/South traffic. It is eery to see it noiseless, sans vehicles. Of course, like a few other cities with viaducts, there has been a push to replace the viaduct with either surface streets ( like San Francisco ) or a tunnel ( such as Boston ). It looks like the tunnel idea has won and soon work will probably start, once all of the litigation has been worked through.
