Conservatory Flower

Volunteer Park Conservatory

Since we are still waiting for Spring in Seattle I thought I would post an image from my trip to the Conservatory a few weeks ago. The temp today is 46 and it is gray and raining-not the kind of conditions that make for good outdoor images. Besides, I don’t think my D80 is waterproof. There is a pattern in many of my images of flowers/blossoms. Sometimes I will use flash, but most of the time I try not to in order to get this dreamy, soft quality. Plant details are really cool, but I also like to soften the appearance.

Blue OBama

Obama Poster in Window

Poster I saw in an apartment window. I am wondering how he is handling, in private, the monstrous mess left by his predecessor? He seems strong and focused. The last eight years nearly brought this country to the brink, I believe. I hope he can pull us back from the precipice.

Sky full of Cherry Blossoms

Cherry blossoms

Sky full of cherry blossoms on Capital Hill, Seattle. I was on Capital Hill getting my haircut Saturday and spent an hour or so walking around afterwards. It was a pleasant morning with lots of people out walking dogs, jogging and just emerging from a long Winter. I have quite a few images of this walk to share in the near future.

Tulips to be

Tulip to beAlmost TulipsTulips to be. It has just been too cold this Spring. The tulips are about two weeks behind, in terms of when they usually bloom. I think this coming week will be the blossoming moment. These were shot in the Capital Hill area of Seattle today.

Red seems to be the theme for this posting. The variety in nature amazes me. The different structural elements of each plant seem endless.

Light Rail Station

Vivace
Vivace
The building which housed Vivace Coffee in Seattle for many years. They have moved up Broadway to a new location. This building looks like it may be razed to make room for the new light rail station.

Preparation for light rail station.

Although the new light rail will be underground on Capital Hill there needs to be a station so many buildings are coming down. This building was just across the street from the Vivace Building north of Cal Anderson Park.
