Patchwork
On Albina St., a young man is scraping, patching and painting the side of an older building. The paint on the building was lead-based. I passed my concerns to the fellow up on the ladder ( ‘Shouldn’t you be wearing a respirator?) and he didn’t seem concerned. Also, the stuff he was scraping off of the side of the building was falling directly onto the sidewalk. Seemed like he could have had a tarp or something to catch the lead-based paint? I guess I should just mind my own business? Smart Car……Not so smart young man.
Modernity
In a neighborhood of mostly bungalos, four square and other types of craftsmen-like houses is this new construction, complete with an array of solar panels.
River Traffic
Marine traffic along the Duwamish. In the background is the very old Boeing Plant II. Used to be the Sheet Metal Shop until that moved to Auburn many years ago. I have a feeling the buildings are empty as Boeing and the City of Seattle have come to some agreement as to what to do with the land and how to deal with the environmental issues. A lot of history in this Plant. Boeing’s footprint in the NW Region is getting smaller and smaller as the company continues to outsource.
