Although I never watched the TV show Seinfeld I was told this was the diner featured in the series. After wandering the grounds of Columbia one afternoon with our son we happened to pass by the diner and he pointed it out to me.

From the Staten Island Ferry

Looking back at lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge from the Staten Island Ferry. There was quite a crowd of people standing on the aft end of the ferry taking pictures. I thought I had a good spot to shoot from, but was soon overrun by camera-clutching tourists pushing me around as everyone jockeyed around for that ‘perfect spot’. A bit crazy, but riding the ferry is a good way to see lower Manhattan and the east channel, downtown Brooklyn, etc.

Urban Bamboo

Planted on a parking strip in NE Portland. Two winters ago, during a snowstorm, this group of bamboo, loaded with ice and snow, were laying horizontal on the street. After the snow and ice melted they bounced back up as though nothing had happened.
