Growing up in Seattle, I didn’t see many trees that were not green or some variation on the theme of green. In the last ten years it seems that many people have chosen to plant trees in shades of red. Some are brilliantly colored, some more subtle, but they all still strike me as an odd color for a tree that is not yet losing leaves to the Fall. Does one ever get past the conditioning of one’s first decade?
